2007 Washington State Disc Golf Championship Series
Drive for the Series Championship
Welcome to the 2007 Washington State Championship Series. This is a series of 8 PDGA B tier events. Play one or play them all! Each event will be fun and well ran. As you play you these PDGA B tier events, you will earn Championship Series Points. Play in five or more events and you are in the running for your division championship, and cash or prizes after the final event. Don’t miss out. These are Washington’s top events in terms of attendance, competition and tournament quality. Be a part of one of the most successful Disc Golf series in the world. And don’t forget to pre register. All events will have at least 90 players. Give your TD a hand and pre register early. See you on the course!!
Tournament Payout
All payouts will be based on entries per division, minus PDGA player fees ($3 per player for B tiers), PDGA sanctioning and insurance costs ($125), series player fees ($3), player pack costs, plus any overhead costs such as printing costs and park use fees.
All td’s will do there best to achieve sponsorship money and products that will add to the value of the payout, and compensate for the PDGA fees.
All amateur players will receive $10-$15 player packs plus we will pay the top 45-50% of the division, and of course trophies to the top three players in each division. Pro’s will also be paid by PDGA formula, plus trophies.
The “Cut”
This year the “cut” for the final nine will change slightly. Only the top 10 Open Men, and top 10 Advanced Men will “make the cut” and play nine more holes for the tournament. By pdga rule any players tied at the cut, make the cut.
Points
In order to keep the points race close, the points system will remain the same as last year. 1st place will receive 100 points, 2nd 99, 3rd 98, 4th 97 and so on. Players tied for places other than 1st will get the higher point total for which you tied. Ties for 1st must be broken. You must play five events to qualify for championship series trophies and payout. Your best five finishes are the points you will keep, along with one point for each event you play. This system will keep the point race close and more players involved as the series winds down. Championship Series trophies and payout will be awarded after the Lakewood Open awards.
Series Championship/Final standings
All amateurs that play at least five events will receive “2007 Championship Series Qualifier” tee shirts. The top 60% of each division will also receive prizes and trophies.
All Pro’s that play at least five events will receive “2007 Championship Series Qualifier” tee shirts, and the top $40% of each division will receive cash and trophies.
Last year, player fees generated over $1,800 toward the series championship. Through Td’s disc sales, CFR fundraising and the “basket toss” we raised an extra $1,500+. This brought the overall payout to over $3,300 in cash and prizes.
With new tournaments and tight competition, 2007 will be a record year in attendance and payout. Our goal this year is 800 players, and over $4,000 in payout for Championship qualifiers.
I look forward to seeing old and new friends. Disc On!!!
